Meanwhile, BST recently closed a term tender to sell MTBE for January to December supply, and the bids would stay valid until the end of November, they added.
Total term volume, if awarded, would fall by 20-30% for 2011, versus 50,000 tonnes/year contracted for 2010, traders said.
The feedstock supply would be tight next year so the volume would drop, one trader said.
Separately, BST would shut its 55,000 tonne/year MTBE plant on 23 November, a source close to the company said on Thursday.
The turnaround would last until 10 December, he added.
Strong demand for the octane booster and robust crude futures beefed up Asia MTBE prices to $880/tonne (€642/tonne) FOB (free on board)
($1 = €0.73)
