Taiwan’s Formosa runs Mailiao MTBE plant at 70-80%

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan's Formosa Petrochemical Corp (FPCC)  is running its 190,000 tonne/year methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) plant in Mailiao at 70-80%, following a turnaround, a source close to the company said on Thursday.

Formosa restarted the plant on 7 November, he added.

"The plant can’t run at 100% because one of the (naphtha) crackers is undergoing maintenance so there is lower C4 feedstock for the MTBE plant,” the source said.
