China’s Jiangsu Sopo to build caustic soda plant in Zhenjiang

SHANGHAI (ICIS)--China-based Jiangsu Sopo Chemical Shareholding Co, a subsidiary of Jiangsu Sopo Group, plans to build an 80,000 tonne/year caustic soda plant in Zhenjiang, East China, the company said in a disclosure to Shanghai Stock Exchange on Monday.

The environmental impact assessment report for the new plant was recently approved by Zhenjiang Environmental Protection Bureau, according to the disclosure.

Construction of the yuan (CNY) 211m ($32m) plant will be completed in one and a half years, but the company did not disclose when construction will start.

Jiangsu Sopo Group is one of China's backbone enterprises producing chemical raw material products, including acetate, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin and rubber accelerant.
