SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s China American Petrochemical (Capco) shut its 700,000 tonne/year No 6 purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Kaohsiung in the morning due to a mechanical outage, a source close to the company said on Monday.
The shutdown was estimated to last five to seven days, said the source.
The company could not be reached for any comments.

He noted that the 444,000 tonne/year plant of another Taiwan PTA major, Tuntex Petrochemical, had remained shut for a three-week turnaround since 1 November.
Spot PTA prices for Taiwan cargoes were around $1,160-1,180/tonne (€850-865/tonne) CFR (cost & freight) China Main Port (CMP) on Monday, $10/tonne lower from last Friday’s level, ceasing the rapid downtrend seen last week, according to ICIS data.
