BUENOS AIRES (ICIS)--Global chemical distributor Transmerquim Group opened a new office in Buenos Aires, a company source said on Tuesday.

“The company will have the capacity to distribute over 500 different chemicals in Argentina,” said Marc Joseph Rothuizen, director of Transmerquim Argentina and former general manager of specialty chemicals distributor Brenntag Argentina.

The products Transmerquim plans to distribute in Argentina include caustic soda, sodium sulphate, aromatic and chloride solvents, acids, glycol, alcohols, and additives, among others, he said.

“We are planning to distribute raw materials for the oil, mining, food, cosmetics, detergents, water treatment, paints and adhesives industries,” said Rothuizen.

With the opening of the Argentina branch, Transmerquim said it strengthened its presence in the Latin America region. The company already has offices in Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Republica Dominicana, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

The company commercialises and distributes about 150,000 tonnes/year of chemicals for approximately 3,000 global customers, it said.

According to Rothuizen, some of Transerquim’s main clients in non-Argentina markets include DuPont, Dow Chemical, Lyondell, Shell, and Oxea.
