SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corp (FPCC) plans to restart its 1.03m tonne/year No 2 cracker in Mailiao within this week, after it was shut for maintenance, said a company official on Wednesday.

“We are striving to resume operations within this week,” the source said.

Meanwhile, operating rates at FPCC's 700,000 tonne/year No 1 cracker at the same site remained capped at 80-90% since operations were resumed on 15 October, the source said. The cracker had a forced shutdown due to a fire incident on 7 July.
