SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corp (FPCC) is in the process of restarting its 1.03m tonne/year No 2 naphtha cracker in Mailiao following a turnaround that started last month, said a company source on Thursday.
“Naphtha has been fed in and we expect to get on-spec ethylene production by tonight [Thursday] or tomorrow,” he said in Mandarin.
The cracker was taken off line for scheduled maintenance on 5 October.
FPCC runs two other naphtha crackers at the same site. The 1.2m tonne/year No 3 cracker was operating at 100% while production at the 700,000 tonne/year No 1 cracker was expected to be ramped up to full capacity in the coming weeks, the source added.
