China’s Huajin Chemical starts trial runs at new ABS plant

SHANGHAI (ICIS)--China’s fertilizer and chemical producer Huajin Chemical Group, a subsidiary of state-owned China North Industries Group Corporation (CNGC), has started trial runs at its new 140,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plant, the parent company said on Friday.

The new plant with two lines was in the northeastern Liaoning province, CNGC said.

Trial runs on one of the lines started on 8 November and CNGC expected to get on-spec ABS production shortly, according to a statement published by CNGC on its website.

However, a source from Huajin Chemical said the on-spec product would be out next week, but declined to give more details.

Trial runs on the other line would start by the end of November, said the statement.

Huajin Chemical invested yuan (CNY) 1.15bn ($173.2m) to build the plant, which could produce 10 grades of ABS and would generate annual revenue of around yuan (CNY) 1.7bn, CNGC said.
