TiO2 demand exploding worldwide – Germany’s crenox

TORONTO (ICIS)--Global demand for titanium dioxide (TiO2) is “exploding” worldwide, Germany-based producer crenox said on Thursday.

“We could currently sell much more than we can produce,” said crenox general manager Stefan Schaap.

Demand from India was particularly strong, probably due to the “very limited domestic TiO2 production capacity” there, he added.

Schaap said that crenox expected to run its 107,000 tonne/year plant at Krefeld-Uerdingen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia at full capacity well into 2012.

The company, formerly part of US-based Tronox, was relaunched earlier this year under the name crenox GmbH.
