SHANGHAI (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu Laidun Baofu Plastifying Co started up its new 200,000 tonne/year polystyrene (PS) plant on 28 November at Yixing, eastern Jiangsu province, a company source said on Thursday.
“The plant is running below 50% now because it just began operation,” the source said in Mandarin adding the operating rate was being ramped up.
The nameplate capacity of the plant is 200,000 tonnes/year but it could actually produce 240,000 tonnes/year, the source added.
PS supply to domestic market would increase following Laidun’s startup, market players said.
Jiangsu Laidun has an existing 100,000 tonnes/year PS unit and a 120,000 tonnes/year PS facility at the same site.
