HOUSTON (ICIS)--Initial US styrene monomer (SM) November contract settlements emerged this week at an increase of 4-6 cents/lb on the back of stronger feedstock ethylene prices and recent outages in the ethylene market, trade participants said on Thursday.
The increase took initial styrene prices to 65-70 cents/lb ($1,433-1,543/tonne, €1,089-1,173/tonne) FOB (free on board) before discounts, as assessed by ICIS.
Additional November settlements are expected to surface this week.
Major US styrene producers include Americas Styrenics, BP, INEOS NOVA, LyondellBasell, SABIC, Total, Valero and Westlake. Major buyers include Helm, Shell, and Sunoco.
($1 = €0.76)
