The plant was expected to come on stream at around 20 December, according to a major polyester maker in Jiangyin.
About a third of PTA output from the plant was for captive use – for Hanbang’s downstream 300,000 tonne/year polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle chip unit, while the rest would be sold to polyester makers in Jiangyin, including Sanfangxiang and Huaxicun.
Hanbang Petrochemical is majority owned by Jiangyin Chengxin Industrial Group Co, which also runs a 300,000 tonne/year polycondensation unit that produces mainly bottle-grade PET in Jiangyin
