SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Malaysia’s oil major Petronas on Tuesday reported a fire at the Bekok C platform, operated by its Petronas Carigali unit, located 200 kilometres off Peninsular Malaysia’s eastern coast.
The fire started just after midnight on Tuesday during a scheduled shutdown for maintenance activities, Petronas said in a statement.
Of the 108 personnel on the platform, six were injured during the incident and the remaining 102 were evacuated to nearby platforms, it added.
Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire, which was extinguished by the platform’s Emergency Response Team soon after it started, the firm said.
No other details were immediately available.
