HOUSTON (ICIS)--Mexichem Resinas ?xml:namespace>
The Mexichem subsidiary was expected to restart the homopolymer suspension PVC unit around 21 December, and the copolymer suspension unit sometime later, according to the sources.
The plant flooded about ten days ago, when continuing heavy rains caused a nearby creek to overflow. Similar flooding occurred at the PVC facility in early November.
The company has taken additional immediate precautions, while the government was expected to implement long term infrastructure projects in the area to avoid a repeat of the situation, the sources said.
Sources in the region said the weather had improved, and the intensity and duration of the rains had diminished significantly.
