SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korean aromatics producer LG Chem will shut its Daesan-based benzene unit from the middle of March for regular maintenance, said a company source on Thursday.
The hydrodealkylation (HDA) unit, which can produce 270,000 tonnes/year of benzene, would be down for about a month, he said.
The company planned to restart production around the middle of April, the source added.
LG Chem also operates a second aromatics unit in Yeosu, which can produce 270,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 90,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 50,000 tonnes/year of solvent grade xylene.
Other aromatics producers in South Korea include SK Energy and GS Caltex.
