China finalises ADD on New Zealand, Malaysia, Indonesia methanol

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China has finalised the anti-dumping duties (ADD) it would impose on methanol imports from New Zealand, Malaysia and Indonesia, the country's Ministry of Commerce announced on Thursday.

Effective 24 December, duties of 9.1% would apply on methanol from Indonesia's PT Kaltim Methanol Industri, 9.1% on material from Malaysia's Petronas Methanol Labuan and 8.9% on imports from Methanex New Zealand, the ministry said in a statement.

Methanol imports from other companies in Indonesia would be imposed duties of 32.5%, while duties of 37.5% would be implemented for all other sources from Malaysia, it said.

For other players in New Zealand, methanol import duties of 36.4% would apply, the ministry said.

The finalised duties, which were slightly lower than the provisional tariff rates imposed in October, would be in place for five years.
