TORONTO (ICIS)--US private equity firm O2 Investment Partners has acquired Michigan-based specialty chemical firm Silbond for an undisclosed sum, regional news media reported on Tuesday.

The deal was in partnership with Silbond’s current management, reports said.

According to the company's website, Silbond is a leading supplier of tetra ethyl ortho silicate (TEOS), which is used in the semiconductor, coatings and casting foundries industries.

A Silbond spokesperson would not comment on the acquisition. The spokesperson said the company’s facility at Weston, Michigan, was “currently on plant shutdown”, but would resume operations next week.

Officials at O2 did not respond to a request for comment.

O2's portfolio includes RheTech, a plastics compounder and supplier of polypropylene (PP) compounds and colour concentrates.
