GUANGZHOU (ICIS)--China’s Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group plans to start commercial operations of its 490,000 tonne/year methanol-to-propylene (MTP) plant at Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia region, by the middle of January, a company source said on Monday.
A 1.67m tonne/year upstream coal-to-methanol plant and a 500,000 tonne/year downstream polypropylene (PP) unit at the same site would also start operating with the MTP plant, the source added.
“On-spec methanol and PP products were achieved in late December last year, which guarantees integrated operation of the whole complex,” he said.
“We haven’t decided where to sell the final PP products yet as the volume would be small in the initial stage,” he added.
