TORONTO (ICIS)--Odyssey Logistic & Technology (OL&T) has acquired Optimodal for an undisclosed sum, the US chemical logistics firm said on Tuesday.

The acquisition of Optimodal, the largest US intermodal chemical services provider, would help Danbury, Connecticut-based OL&T to improve its chemical rail shipping services to customers, it said.

“OL&T acquired Optimodal to add improved rail shipping services to our portfolio and to drive down the carbon footprint related to moving cargo,” said CEO Robert Shellman.

“Optimodal offers the flexibility of local, short-distance truck transport combined with the efficiencies and security of long-haul rail transport,” he added.

Optimodal would immediately become part of the OL&T, operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of OL&T.

All Optimodal customers would continue to be served without any changes in personnel or service, and OL&T would also continue to utilise Optimodal’s facility in West Chester, Pennsylvania, it said.
