HOUSTON (ICIS)--US fuel ethanol inventories rose in the first week of 2011 despite a drop in the biofuel's daily production, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday.
Ethanol stocks stood at 17.09m bbl in the week ended 7 January, up by 1.4% from 16.86m bbl the previous week.
Meanwhile, daily production fell by 1.8% to 888,000 bbl/day for the week, down from 904,000 bbl/day a week ago, the government said.
For the month of December, daily ethanol output averaged 920,000 bbl/day, up by 3.7% from 887,000 bbl/day in November, according to EIA data.
