SHANGHAI (ICIS)--Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation (FCFC) plans to shut its phenol/acetone unit for 45 days from 1 March as part of its annual maintenance, a company source said on Tuesday.

FCFC has two phenol/acetone lines, each with a capacity of 200,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 123,000 tonnes/year of acetone, the source said.

The producer expected to prepare enough feedstock phenol and acetone for captive downstream bisphenol A (BPA) production, but would have to decrease supply to its customers, the source added.

The producer was also scheduled to shut one of its downstream BPA lines, with a capacity of 130,000 tonnes/year, for maintenance at the same time, the source said.

The producer has four BPA lines with a total capacity of 420,000 tonnes/year.

All the plants are located in Mailiao, Taiwan.
