SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Qatar Fuel Additives Company Limited (QFAC) is operating its 610,000 tonne/year methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) plant in Mesaieed, Qatar, at full rate, said a source close to the company on Monday.
“The plant is running at 100%. MTBE supply is tight globally because there isn’t enough capacity,” said the source.
Asian MTBE prices were up $5/tonne (€3.7/tonne) in the week ended 21 January to $910-920/tonne FOB ?xml:namespace>
Meanwhile, the plant would be taken offline in October for maintenance.
