US CB&I wins contract for Formosa Chem cumene/phenol plant in China

TORONTO (ICIS)--US petrochemicals engineering firm CB&I has won a contract for a grassroots 450,000 tonne/year cumene and 300,000 tonne/year phenol plant in Ningbo, China, it said on Tuesday.

The project, by Taiwan-based Formosa Chemicals and Fibre Corporation (FCFC), was expected to start up 2013, the engineering firm said.

CB&I said the contract included licensing of its Lummus Technology’s Polimeri technology, as well as project engineering design. It did not disclose how much the project was expected to cost.
