HOUSTON (ICIS)--The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) levied $422,320 (€308,294) in fines against Chevron Phillips Chemical for air emissions at its Cedar Bayou facility, the commission said on Wednesday.
The fines stemmed from excess emissions from a flare and improper maintenance of monitoring equipment at the company’s Cedar Bayou facility in Baytown, Texas, the TCEQ said.
“These violations were found in a routine inspection on January 12, 2010,” the commission said. Part of the fine, $211,160, would be used to supplement the operation of an air monitoring system in Harris County.
