TORONTO (ICIS)--Honeywell’s UOP petrochemicals engineering business will cooperate with Saudi Arabia’s King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) on developing aromatics and catalytic processing technologies, Honeywell said on Tuesday.

Honeywell said under a five-year cooperation deal signed with KFUPM, the university's professors and researchers would work with UOP scientists on catalyst development and processes for aromatics production, thus supporting Saudi Arabia's growing aromatics industry.

UOP is described as the world’s leading licensor of aromatics process technology.

Honeywell added it would open this year a joint Saudi office for its UOP, building solutions and process solutions businesses.

In 2009, Honeywell already opened a technical centre on the KFUPM campus as part of an initiative to build an integrated facility for the three businesses at the university's Dhahran Techno Valley business cluster, it added.
