MOVES: Dounis elected president of Polyurethane Foam Association

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Dimitri Dounis was elected to serve as president of the Polyurethane Foam Association (PFA), the trade association of US flexible polyurethane foam manufacturers and suppliers said on Wednesday.

His term began on 1 January 2011.

Dounis is corporate director of marketing and foam research for Hickory Springs Manufacturing Company in Hickory, North Carolina.

The PFA said Dounis’ “passion and extensive knowledge of the polyurethanes industry, from foam manufacturer and chemical supplier perspectives, will be a great asset to the association".

Dounis is credited with the creation and development of the world's first commercial bio-content flexible polyurethane foam, the PFA said.

Before joining Hickory Springs Manufacturing Company 10 years ago, Dounis worked as a research scientist for a polyurethane chemical supplier. His technical papers have been published in several scientific journals.
