HOUSTON (ICIS)--Eastman reported flaring from one of its Longview crackers in Texas after a compressor trip, but it restarted the unit early during the weekend, the company said on Monday.
“Propylene refrigeration compressor tripped due to an instrument malfunction. This upset also caused the ethylene refrigeration compressor to trip… process gas was routed to the plant's vent system,” Eastman said in the filing with state regulators.
The unit was brought back online early on Saturday morning, a company spokesperson said.
Eastman said the unit affected was cracker 3A, which has 141,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity.
The company has another cracker in Longview with 141,000 tonnes/year of capacity, and a larger unit with 358,000 tonnes/year.
