HOUSTON (ICIS)--LyondellBasell may shut down a unit at its La Porte complex in Texas because of a fire at the site of supplier Enterprise Products, the company said on Tuesday.
A loss of pipeline feed pressure could cause the company to shut down the unit, LyondellBasell said in a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
The company did not specify which unit.
Earlier on Tuesday, LyondellBasell said it reduced rates at its cracker in La Porte following the fire at Enterprises Mont Belvieu complex.
The fire erupted at about 12:30 hours Houston time (18:30 hours GMT).
Enterprise's complex in Mont Belvieu is one of the world's largest underground storage centres for natural gas liquids (NGLs). Crackers in the US rely on ethane as feedstock for ethylene.
Enterprise said most of its operations were unaffected by the fire.
