GUANGZHOU (ICIS)--China’s Shandong Hongye Chemical Industrial Group plans to shut down its 140,000 tonne/year adipic acid (ADA) plant at Dongming in Shandong province for maintenance next week, a company source said on Wednesday.

The scheduled turnaround will begin in the middle of next week and is expected to take half a month, the source said.

The shutdown would not severely impact market supply as other suppliers were operating at normal rates, the source added.

Major ADA producers in China include Shandong Bohui, Xinjiang Dushanzi Tianli High and Newtech, PetroChina Liaoyang Petrochemical and Shenma Pingdingshan.

ADA is primarily used in the polyurethane and nylon industries.
