SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s TPT Petrochemicals, a subsidiary of Indorama Ventures, restarted its 540,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Mab Ta Phut on Friday morning, a company source said.

The plant was shut down on 15 February for 10 days of maintenance, the source said.

On-spec production was expected to begin on Friday night, he added.

The company had stocked up sufficient inventories in the previous months to ensure it could continue to supply PTA to its usual customers during the shutdown, the source added.

TPT Petrochemical, previously owned by Taiwan’s Tuntex Petrochemical, was acquired by Indorama in September 2010.
