US Q4 cumene production up 1.2% vs Q3; 2010 up 29% - NPRA

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US cumene production in the 2010 fourth quarter was 1.979bn lb, up by 1.2% from 2.003bn lb in the 2010 third quarter, the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association (NPRA) said on Friday.

Fourth-quarter production was up by 37% from 1.440bn lb a year earlier.

For all of 2010, US cumene production was 7.667bn lb, a gain of 29% from 5.963bn lb in 2009.

US cumene inventories were 351m lb at the end of the 2010 fourth quarter, up by 9% from 321m lb in the 2010 third quarter and up by 34% from 262m lb in the fourth quarter of 2009.

The companies reporting production and inventory figures in the survey were Blue Island Phenol, Citgo, Dow Chemical, Flint Hills Resources, Georgia Gulf, INEOS, Marathon, Shell and Sunoco.
