HOUSTON (ICIS)--Shell is restarting a butadiene (BD) unit in Deer Park, Texas, the company said in a regulatory filing on Monday.

Shell has 145,000 tonnes/year of BD capacity in Deer Park, according to ICIS plants and projects.

The company did not specify how long the BD unit was down in the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Spokesman Ted Rolfvondenbaumen said Shell would not discuss specific time-frames on the status of individual units for competitive reasons, citing company policy.

Shell experienced an upset on 2 February at its Deer Park complex as a result of extreme cold weather in the Houston region.
