FCFC operates Ningbo ABS plant at 60% on feedstock shortage

SHANGHAI (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Chemicals and Fibers Corp (FCFC) is running its acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plant at Ningbo, eastern Zhejiang province in China, at 60% operating rate due to a shortage of feedstock acrylonitrile (ACN), a company source said on Tuesday.

The company had to reduce the operating rate at the 300,000 tonnes/year plant by 20% to 60% from 21 February due to the shortage of its feedstock, the source said.

FCFC said it would increase the operating rate gradually in early March once the ACN cargoes from Taiwan arrives at Ningbo plant.
