SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Oriental Petrochemical is planning a one-week shutdown at its 400,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Kuan Yin in Taoyuan later this month, a company source said on Friday.

The plant will remain off line during 17-26 March, the source added.

The company said it would guarantee supplies to its contracted customers through spot purchasing and stocks, the source said.

The company also runs a 500,000 tonne/year PTA plant at the same site, which would continue to run normally during the period, the source said.

Oriental Petrochemical is a subsidiary of Far Eastern Group, which is into polyester, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and textile businesses.
