SINGAPORE (ICIS)--CNOOC-Kings is planning to restart its 900,000 tonne/year paraxylene (PX) unit in Huizhou, Guangdong province, sometime between late March and mid-April, following a 30–45 day turnaround, a company source said on Tuesday.

“The length of the turnaround will depend on the progress of work. There will not be any delivery of March cargoes,” the company source told ICIS.

“April volumes will be reduced as well,” he added, but was unable to provide an estimation of the extent of reduction.

CNOOC-Kings has been running its Huizhou aromatics facility, which can produce up to 80,000 tonnes/year of orthoxylene (OX), at a reduced rate since late September 2010 after experiencing mechanical issues.

The company supplies PX to major purified terephthalic acid (PTA) makers in China, such as BP Zhuhai, Xianglu Petrochemicals, Shaoxing Yuandong Petrochemical and Zhejiang Yisheng Petrochemical, market sources said.
