HOUSTON (ICIS)--A meltdown may have occurred at the Fukushima No 1 nuclear plant in Japan, as the death toll from a massive earthquake has reached 687, the Los Angeles Times reported on Saturday.
The latest count does not include 200-300 bodies sent to Sendai, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Earlier on Saturday, an explosion was heard near the reactor at the No 1 plant, attributed to a buildup of hydrogen in the cooling system, the Los Angeles Times reported.
