SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s JX Nippon Oil & Energy has left its 460,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker at Kawasaki in Kanagawa prefecture idle after the devastating earthquake on Friday, a source close to the company said on Monday.
The cracker was shut since Friday or Saturday, he added.
“I don’t care how long it will remain shut,” the source said.
Japan is also facing a nuclear emergency in the aftermath of the earthquake, which Prime Minister Naoto Kan was reported to have described as the country’s worst crisis since World War II.
