Japan Polypropylene’s two PP plants remain shut after earthquake

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan Polypropylene’s two polypropylene (PP) plants are still shut after a deadly earthquake and massive tsunami that ravaged the northeastern region of the country on 11 March, a company source said on Monday.

Japan Polypropylene’s 323,000 tonne/year plant at Goi and  346,000 tonne/year PP plant at Kashima were shut on Friday after the earthquake hit, the source said.

It was too early to say when the plants could be restarted, he said.

The producer’s three other PP plants at Kawasaki, Yokkaichi and Mizushima with a combined capacity of 405,000 tonnes/year capacity were still running normally, he added.
