Mitsubishi Chemical’s Kashima benzene, cumene plants still down

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Mitsubishi Chemical's 420,000 tonne/year benzene plant and downstream 300,000 tonne/year cumene unit at Kashima in Japan have been shut since 11 March when the massive earthquake struck, a company source said on Tuesday.

The source did not know when the plants could be restarted.

Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Chemical's 200,000 tonne/year benzene plant at Mizushima is operating normally, he said.
