SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s JX Nippon Oil & Energy has taken off line its 220,000 tonne/year Group I base oils facility in Negishi, Kanagawa prefecture, following the shutdown at its refinery complex, a company source said on Tuesday.

The 270,000 bbl/day crude refinery complex, which is located at the same site, was shut down after the massive 11 March earthquake, the source added.

In addition, the company has begun a planned turnaround at its 246,000 tonne/year Group I base oils facility in Mizushima, the source said.

The shutdown at the Mizushima facility will last for around two-and-a-half months, the source added.

Meanwhile, the operations at its 175,000 tonne/year Group I base oil plant in Mizushima and its 175,000 tonne/year Group I and III base oil plant at Yokohama were “normal”, the source said.
