Fire at Albermarle Texas plant extinguished - report

TORONTO (ICIS)--Firefighters extinguished a fire on Wednesday at an Albermarle chemical plant in Pasadena, Texas, according to a news report.

The fire broke out at 0200 hours Houston time (0700 hours GMT), according to local television station KTRK. No one was injured.

A chemical - di-mythl-aluminum chloride - was released in the incident but posed no danger to residents or workers, the report said.

Albemarle media officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

According to information on Albermarle’s website, the company’s Pasadena plant on the Houston Ship Channel ranks as the largest aluminium alkyls complex in the world. It employs 300 workers.
