UpdateAlbemarle production not affected by Texas plant fire

TORONTO (ICIS)--Albemarle’s production at its aluminium alkyls complex in Pasadena, Texas, was not affected by a small fire early Wednesday morning, a spokeswoman said.

Albemarle’s Sandra Rodriguez told ICIS the fire broke out at around 0200 hours Houston time (0700 hours GMT). She was confirming a local news report.

“It was not a big fire, it is now completely extinguished, operations were not affected, and no people were harmed,” Rodriguez said.

The fire was likely due to a small chemical leak at one of the plant's transfer lines, she said but added that the cause was under investigation.
