SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Kyokuto Petroleum Industries (KPI) has restarted its 175,000 bbl/day Chiba refinery, which was shut down by an earthquake in the northeast of the country on 11 March, a company official said on Thursday.
KPI initiated a safe restart of the facility on Wednesday, and was expecting to resume full production in the next few days, the official said.
KPI is a 50-50 between ExxonMobil Japan Group and Mitsui Oil, a subsidiary of Mitsui and Co.
Tank truck shipments from the refinery were resumed on 13 March, ExxonMobil said in a statement. KPI’s port facilities are working normally.
