HOUSTON (ICIS)--US-based butadiene (BD) producer TPC Group named Michael McDonnell its president and chief executive, effective on 22 March, the company said on Friday.

McDonnell will replace Charlie Shaver, who earlier announced his retirement from TPC.

McDonnell, 53, was previously the president of Pregis, which makes protective, flexible and food-service packaging and hospital-supply products.

As head of Pregis from 2006-2011, McDonnell oversaw a $1.0bn (€710m) company with 47 facilities in 18 countries.

Pregis was spun off from Pactiv, and McDonnell concentrated on creating an independent and standalone company.
