SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China-based oxo-alcohol producers Qilu Petrochemical and Jilin Petrochemical have lowered their domestic list prices of n-butanol (NBA) and 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH), market sources said on Monday.
Effective from 18 March, state-owned Qilu Petrochemical and Lihuayi Petrochemical both reduced their NBA and 2-EH list prices by yuan (CNY) 400/tonne ($61/tonne) to CNY13,500–13,600/tonne and CNY14,700–14,800/tonne, respectively, ex-tank and excluding taxes.
Another major Chinese oxo-alcohol producer, Jilin Petrochemical, lowered its 2-EH prices by CNY300/tonne to CNY14,600–14,800/tonne, on an ex-tank basis, but kept its NBA prices stable at CNY13,600–13,900/tonne ex-tank.
Market sources said they were not surprised by the lower prices, as demand from the derivative dioctyl phthalate (DOP), acrylate esters and butyl-acetate (BUTAC) sectors has softened recently.
