SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Numerous petrochemical plants and facilities in Japan are either shut or running at low rates following the deadly earthquake and devastating tsunami of 11 March.

Here is the latest status of some of the crackers and petrochemical plants as of Tuesday, 22 March.

JAPAN DISASTER: JX Energy restarts Negishi refinery
Japan’s JX Nippon Oil & Energy has restarted its 270,000 bbl/day Negishi refinery, a company source said on Monday. While crude distillation units at the Negishi refinery in Kanagawa prefecture just south of Tokyo were restarted on Monday.

JAPAN DISASTER: JX Nippon on track to restart Kawasaki cracker
JX Nippon Oil & Energy is on track to restart its 460,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker in Kawasaki as expected on 27 March after it was taken off line following the 11 March earthquake.

JAPAN DISASTER: Denka to raise op rates at SM unit
Japan’s Denki Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha (Denka) is in the process of raising the operating rate at its 240,000 tonne/year styrene monomer (SM) unit in Chiba. The unit has been operating at 75% following the 11 March earthquake and tsunami, but will likely see rates raised to 100% this week.

JAPAN DISASTER: Honda extends production suspension until 27 March
Honda has extended its production suspension in Japan until 27 March from 23 March due to difficulties in acquiring parts from its suppliers, the automaker said in a statement.
