HOUSTON (ICIS)--Two people died following a plant explosion at a calcium carbide plant in Louisville, Kentucky, the general manager said on Tuesday.
The explosion occurred on Monday at about 17:40 hours Louisville time (22:40 GMT), said John Gant, general manager for Carbide Industries.
A fire started at about 21:00 hours and burned through most of the night, Gant said. It was still smouldering on Tuesday.
The cause of the explosion is still being investigated, Gant said.
