LONDON (ICIS)--New orders for chemicals in the EU rose by 4.2% in January compared with the previous month, statistical office Eurostat said on Wednesday.
January orders for chemicals in the 17-member eurozone saw an increase to 3.8% from December 2010, according to Eurostat figures.
Year-on-year growth in new orders for chemicals in January across the 27 EU member states was 19.5%, while across the eurozone it was 22.8%.
Eurostat data showed that EU-wide new industrial orders were also higher in January compared with the previous month. Orders in the EU27 had increased by 0.2% month on month, while orders in the eurozone rose by 0.1% compared with December 2010.
Year on year, industrial new orders in January grew by 18.6% in the EU27 and 20.9% in eurozone area.
