Corporate social responsibility vital for biofuels - Ruud Lubbers

ROTTERDAM (ICIS)--Corporate social responsibility is vital to consumer acceptance of biofuels, Ruud Lubbers, former Prime Minister of the Netherlands said on Wednesday.

Lubbers, speaking at the World Biofuels Markets conference in Rotterdam, said that producers need to focus on producing biofuels by burning residues and waste instead of burning forests.

He said that both land and water need to be used more efficiently in the production of biofuels.

Social responsibility and sustainable feedstocks should be made compulsory for biofuels producers, Lubbers added.
