SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan VCM Corp has postponed a planned shutdown at its 360,000 tonne/year vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) unit until May, a company source said on Thursday.
“We don’t know the exact date yet but it should be sometime in May”, the source said.
The facility, located in the Lin Yuan Petrochemical Industrial Park, was initially slated to have a three-week turnaround at the beginning of April.
The turnaround was rescheduled in line with the postponement of maintenance works at power facilities in the area, the source added.
As a result, Taiwan VCM was able to offer export volumes for April, the source said.
VCM supply in Asia is extremely tight at the moment due to ongoing and upcoming plant shutdowns, industry sources said.
